Company name was registered as Gossamer Structures (Pty) Ltd named after the Gossamer Albatross, the 1st human-powered aircraft to successfully cross the English Channel in 1979.
TZ-7 Telescopic Carton Sealer was the first machine manufactured and named after Terry Zondagh.

CE-400 Carton Erector was designed and manufactured in 1994, following the TBG-600 top-and-bottom gluer in 1996. In 2000 our DBF Range of Dry Bin Fillers today called our Gentle Giants and in 2003 our first Case Packer range today consisting of CC-101, CC-612 & CC-200 (Cans, Bottles, Jars etc).

TE-A was our first tray erector, followed by the TE-700 range of tray erectors that was designed and manufactured in 2005 focusing on Plaform and Ledge style trays & expanding the range to Column corner, P84 and Defor style trays with the TE-700W2 range, following our Bag-in-Box range consisting today of BIB-150, BIB-150C, BIB-200SS, TE-R50,CEB-300 & CEB-300R8.

SL-400 Side Loader range in production today at Bokomo Weetbix and Anchor Yeast. ST-700 shrink wrapper range was designed, keeping the focus on energy efficiency, today in production at Paarl Media.

CEB-300 Carton Erecting from blank for the BIB lines, focus was on the wine industry, but today it’s for any liquid bag in box applications. PI-2040, sounds like a detective, but it’s main focus is inserting partitions between glass bottles.

2016 was a very exciting time for Gossamer, being the first to install a Robotic Palletizing system in SA at Oorlogspoort. Gossamer developed in 2018 the fastest Dual Stage Tray Erector TE-800D for all tray styles running at 2400 cph constantly 24/7, selling the TE-800D worldwide.

2020 to current, was a very challenging, but fruitful year for Gossamer with so many new generations of World Class design’s. The focus was labour reduction and boosting efficiency not only within the Agricultural Market, but also the Convenience Food Industry. Highlights was our new Plate Palletizer design and doughnut stackers for Minnesota, Ambrosia Phase 2 Bin Shuttle installation with bin Destacker lines, Pattern Packers for Australia for Melons, dedicated Jumble Fillers, Inline Scales, Mouton Citrus 1st Pattern Packer PP-300 installation. We are so blessed to have the support of our clients during a difficult time of the year locally and globally.
